There were 16 players present on a beautiful sunny day and it was lovely to see five of our new members from the Friday morning session. Sadly, with the Coronavirus restrictions, no bacon rolls before the melee this year and no meal afterwards! However, Graham kindly provided some mince pies to go with the tea, coffee and hot chocolate at the mid-morning break taken after 2 rounds.
In total, we played 4 rounds of 25 minutes. The Cobbetts Curry Cup is awarded to the highest place new member and the Cook’s Christmas Cup to the winner of the competition. It was great to see two of the new members battling it out for a place in the top 4. Going into the final round Vi was in with a good chance of winning both cups being on 3 wins along with Alan and Dave. Vi was drawn to play with Rod against Geoff and Ali in the final round and although Geoff’s team triumphed 8-4 this left him just one point short of snatching the Curry Cup away from Vi. Dave and Viv scored 5 in the last end of their final game to win 12-4 but this was still not enough to stop Alan taking the Christmas Cup after his 13-2 win. Well played Alan!
