Christmas Melee 2014

Sunday, December 14th 2014

With rain falling on the icy ground, Lyn’s bacon rolls and hot drinks were a welcoime start to the day. There were also Chris Barron’s mince pies and a tin of sweets from Paula to eat. There was an excellent selection of Christmas jumpers but sadly Lyn was not well enough to wear hers. The first 2 rounds had 23 players but the numbers dwindled for various reasons and by the last round we were down to 18! After the 4 rounds of 30 minutes there were just 3 players with 4 wins.

At the end of the meal at the Purbani, Alan presented Steve Lombard with the Cook’s Christmas Cup for winning the melee just ahead of defending champion Steve Daykin with Sue Sandy in third place. Lee was winner  of the Cobbett’s Curry Cup for the best new player, just ahead of Diane.

Leading Positions

Steve Lombard        4 wins +26
