| Monday, 6th January This was the inaugural Monday Club Melee which we hope to make a monthly event from now on. An amazing 27 players took part, even though some had no idea what they were letting themselves in for! Three 20 minute rounds were played and honourable mentions for Robin and Greg, who each won 2 games and drew 1 (+6 & +13, respectively). Only two players won all 3 games, separated by just one point. Runner-up was Ness (+21) but our first Monday Melee Champion was Jim (+22). | Monday, 3rd February The second Monday Monthly Melee had exactly the same number of players (27) as the first. Three players managed to win all 3 games. | Tuesday 4th March (Postponed from 25th February for Shooting Coaching) A turn-out of 16 players made it easy to use Ali’s new pre-drawn rounds. After 3 rounds only Dave S had won all 3 games including a 5-4 win on the last boule in round 3! Graham was the highest of the 2 wins but was drawn to play with Dave in the 4th round so even with a win he couldn’t overtake! | Tuesday, 24th June A turn-out of 16 for the June competition. After 3 rounds there were 4 players undefeated and it was extremely close with Peter +11, Mark W +11, Jay +9 and Vi +5. A 13-0 win for Vi in the final round meant she leapt into the winners spot. While Jay carried on winning it was not quite enough. | Tuesday, 29th July Only 13 present on an evening that threatened rain but actually stayed dry until the last few minutes of the final game! A 5-5 draw in the 3rd round probably put paid to several players chances, leaving Jim B the only player on 3 wins. | Monday, 25th August 50th Anniversary Melee An amazing 55 players for the anniversary melee, played on glorious sunshine. Slightly longer games than usual lasting 25 minutes. After 4 rounds, 6 players remained unbeaten. | Tuesday, 25th November There were 12 players out for the monthly melee, which was reduced to 3 rounds due to the icy cold conditions. After 2 rounds amazingly only two players had won both their games, Ali Stubbs and Jim Ireland. A twist of fate saw them drawn to play each other in the final round so one or other had to be the winner! Congratulations to Ali, who pointed in to win 5-4 with the final boule of the final end. A 4-4 draw would have seen them tied on +9!
